Friends of Valley View Park has been gaining attention for its grassroots efforts to restore and activate the Woods at Valley View Park. Our work transforming underutilized wooded areas into welcoming, walkable trails and vibrant community spaces has been featured by FOX 4 News, NBC 5 DFW, and The Dallas Morning News.
These stories highlight the power of community-led stewardship and strong public partnerships—including the trail-clearing led by the Dallas Park and Recreation Department, which opened access through previously overgrown woods, and the goatscaping initiative generously funded by The Loop Dallas. The Friends of Valley View Park was also awarded a Love Your Block grant made possible by Dallas Code Compliance to build the entrance kiosk to our woods. This grant funded the kiosk materials and the kiosk was built by Dallas Park and Recreation Department.
